Welcome to our website Classic Wooden Sailing Boats. What is offered here may be a fine addition to classic sailing boats that are regularly advertised on the Web. These pages are aimed at those interested in easy-to-maintain small vessels and day sailors which are also easily transported with a trailer.
Jaap van der Weijden has a small boat yard in the Netherlands, where he maintains and restores a small range of carefully selected classic yachts. As a sailor and long time classic wooden boat enthusiast, Jaap has gained wide knowledge on history, craftsmanship and market values of small to medium sized wooden sailing boats. The aquired knowledge has inspired him to maintain, store, promote and sell these classic boats internationally. He is working and living in the historical town of Kudelstaart, bordered by the Westeinder lake. Even from abroad this beautiful location is an easy visit, as it is only a 20 minute car drive away from the Dutch capital Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport.
Water and boats have always been a great passion and a source of inspiration for Jaap. An affinity with authentic materials, craftmanship and the esthetics of natural harmony are the basic ingredients of his attraction to classic boats. Furthermore, he is very fond of tradition, and opinions that tradition could be easily lost if a generation looses track of the elementary values.
So why not take a look at one of the Northern European wooden sailing boats, which are considered exceptional pieces of craftmanship and tradition, worthwile not only being admired for their beauty and excellent sailing qualities but also carefully maintained for future generations. A growing amount of sailors and classic boat enthusiasts from all over Europe do have the same feel and understanding of the value of the classic wooden sailing craft. By means of this website, we would like to spread the word even further and invite all to visit and take look at the sheer beauties.

Our aim is to maintain the added value of culture, history and craftmanship that are part of these rare classic yachts. We'd like to present the much more attractive alternatives to the frequently seen “comfort containers” made out of acryl and created without authenticity or harmony. We would like to provide information to anyone interested in classic wooden sailing boats; as far as possible we provide their descriptions and history online, and evenso pictures of all currently available ships and projects. For any further information, we'll happily attend you via email or telephone, and don't hesitate to contact us if you wish to pay a visit to the yard.
